Role Description

The Senior Strategy Consultant is a strategic lead within our Strategy & Technology Services practice. This practice is responsible for building end-to-end digital and ecommerce products for our clients and delivering best-in-class technology consulting services.

In this role, you own the strategy, design direction, and product development of innovative digital solutions — spanning ecommerce platforms, corporate websites, mobile applications, and technology integrations — that meet clients’ real business needs.

This role is highly cross-functional. You will collaborate closely with our Growth, Design, and Engineering teams to deliver on client work. You are the connective tissue between what the client needs, what the business requires, and what the team builds.

  • Pre-project — Discovery, scoping, and roadmapping. You define what gets built and why — before engineering or design touches anything.
  • During project — Strategic advisory alongside delivery. You ensure scope, direction, and client expectations stay aligned throughout.
  • Post-launch — CRO, analytics, and retainer strategy. You help clients grow after launch and help the agency retain them longer.

What You’ll Do

Ideation & Roadmapping

  • Facilitate structured ideation sessions with clients to surface opportunities, define product vision, and align on strategic direction
  • Build and maintain product roadmaps that reflect client business priorities, technical constraints, and delivery capacity
  • Establish shared vision across the agency by building consensus on priorities between Strategy, Design, and Engineering
  • Sequence initiatives clearly — short-term wins, medium-term builds, and long-term capability development — so clients always know what comes next and why
  • Translate roadmap decisions into clear briefs, sprint inputs, and milestone plans that the delivery team can execute against
  • Revisit and update roadmaps regularly as market conditions, client priorities, or platform capabilities evolve

 

Discovery & Scoping

  • Lead client discovery sessions — structured workshops that surface business goals, user needs, technical constraints, and measurable success metrics
  • Translate discovery outputs into a clear project brief: functional requirements, scope of work, information architecture, user flows, and integration needs
  • Identify technical dependencies early — third-party integrations, ERP systems, POS, loyalty platforms, mobile APIs — and flag complexity before kickoff
  • Own the requirements document as the single source of truth that project management and engineering work from throughout delivery
  • Integrate market research, competitive analysis, and growth best practices into requirements to develop performance-optimised solutions
  • Support the business development team in scoping new proposals and ensuring projects are quoted accurately and profitably

 

Digital & Commerce Strategy

  • Conduct digital audits across ecommerce storefronts, corporate websites, and mobile applications — identifying friction points, revenue leaks, and missed opportunities
  • Develop strategic roadmaps that connect client business goals to specific platform features, technology decisions, and UX improvements
  • Advise on platform and architecture decisions — when Shopify is the right fit, when a headless approach makes sense, when a corporate CMS serves the client better, when a mobile app is the right investment
  • Lead persona definition, customer journey mapping, and user research synthesis for client engagements
  • Stay current on platform developments — Shopify Editions, emerging CMS tools, mobile frameworks, AI commerce — and translate them into client opportunities
  • Support the productised service model — helping define service tiers, deliverables, and pricing that the team can consistently execute

 

Product Development Leadership

  • Own and maintain product requirements documents — ensuring growth best practices, user research, and competitive intelligence are integrated into every build
  • Drive product development with a team of designers and engineers — providing clear direction, resolving ambiguity, and making prioritisation calls
  • Maximise efficiency in a constantly evolving environment where process is fluid and creative problem-solving is the norm
  • Define and analyse metrics that inform the success of products — setting KPIs before launch and measuring outcomes after
  • Build relationships across Growth, Design, and Engineering functions, integrating their learnings into product and technology decisions
  • Balance short-term client urgency with long-term product quality — knowing when to move fast and when to slow down and get it right

 

CRO & Post-Launch Optimisation

  • Set up and own analytics frameworks for client products — GA4, platform analytics, heatmaps, session recording — and turn data into actionable insight
  • Identify and prioritise CRO opportunities: checkout flow, product page performance, navigation, search, mobile experience
  • Design A/B test hypotheses and work with the development team to implement, measure, and iterate
  • Produce clear performance reports for retainer clients with concrete recommendations — not just data, but a point of view on what to do next
  • Build the case for ongoing engagement — translating post-launch data into growth narratives that strengthen client relationships and support account retention

 

Client Relationships & Communication

  • Be a trusted strategic partner to multiple active clients simultaneously — attending calls, responding to strategic questions, and representing the agency’s thinking
  • Present strategies, roadmaps, and recommendations to client stakeholders including founders, CMOs, heads of ecommerce, and technology leads
  • Manage expectations proactively — surfacing risks, changes in scope, or strategic pivots before they become problems
  • Support new business pitches and proposals with strategic narrative, insight, and relevant case study framing
  • Work with the Managing Director on key account strategy — identifying upsell and expansion opportunities within the existing client base

Requirements

Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant discipline — or demonstrable proof of high fluid intelligence and strong independent learning
  • 3+ years of experience as a product manager, digital strategist, or ecommerce consultant — ideally in an agency or client-services environment
  • Experience working across different client types — B2C, B2B, SME, enterprise — and adapting your approach accordingly
  • Demonstrated experience using data to solve real business problems — not just reporting, but deriving insight and acting on it
  • Hands-on experience in ecommerce strategy, UI/UX strategy, and digital technology delivery
  • Experience with Shopify Plus and the Shopify ecosystem — apps, integrations, and platform capabilities
  • Experience beyond Shopify is valued — corporate websites, CMS platforms, mobile applications, or SaaS products
  • Strong communication and presentation experience — you have presented to senior stakeholders and held the room
  • Startup or agency experience is a strong plus — you understand what it means to move fast with limited resources

  • Ability to juggle multiple client responsibilities simultaneously and perform well under pressure
  • Bahasa Malaysia proficiency is a strong advantage for client-facing engagements
